Find friends or family that has something you might like, get yourself invited aboard and try driving it. Offer to get it on and off the trailer for them. Experience some of what ownership is like (without pouring money into it) before jumping in. There's a reason that many people say a boat is a hole in the water that your pour money into. That's not a bad thing, but just go into this with your eyes open. So many of my friends went too big, bought a big fancy boat and end up not using it. My stepdad and his friends generally have small fishing boats with little outboards and love going out, putting around and fishing. Well, that and drinking beer.

@exgirlscout612 good advice thanks.. yea I dont want to jump in to blind on the know how... the thing is... I dont know anyone who owns a boat!

All the boat owners I know love to talk about their craft. If I were looking, I'd start by talking with the boat dealer and explaining that you want to try some out, and maybe getting to know some people at a local marina and seeing if they'd talk to you. I own an antique car that gets tons of looks. People stop and talk with me all the time about it and I've let a few take it for a drive.

@exgirlscout612 that would be a good day if someone let me get acquainted with something they know and have.

The saying goes, something like this,
The two best days of a boatowners, boating experience..
The days they buy the boat, and the day they sell that boat.

A large hole in the water to dump money into. A boat owners happiest days are the first and last day they own it.

First: you need to know that the definition of a boat is a hole in the water that you throw money into.
Second: that the second best day for a boat owner is the day he buys it, the very best day is the day he sells it.
Third: enjoy the heck out of whatever you end up buying.
😜
