Has this happened to anyone else? What did you do?

So I discovered my checking and savings accounts were drained over the weekend. I stopped my account... which only has about $30 left between the two now... and that's about all I can do for the time being until my bank opens tomorrow. 😬

I guess my question is what do I do in the future? Keep my money stuffed in the mattress? How do I stop it from happening again?

If its a card with contactless technology they may have had an RFID scanner near your wallet/purse. There are ones you can buy that stops RFID scanners being able to get your card details.

@SW-User that actually did happen to my sister years ago. This person somehow got my pin too and drained everything. I did get it all back though, I'm just waiting on a new card to be mailed before I can access it. 😑

@dumpstermeow maybe they watched you at the cash machine for your pin. Do you recall being distracted or have someone standing too close?

@SW-User I never pay attention... the guy at the bank said to cover my hand in the future. I'm just not going to use it as debit anymore.

@dumpstermeow Why stop using it as debit? We all have to be diligent these days and ...cover our hands

@Fernie then I don't have to use a pin at all. I'm also not using it unless the machine has a chip reader.
