The British weren't exactly "evil" per say, yes they were very imperialistic, but apart from overall governance, the rest of the empire was largely independent, the Mongols weren't really evil either, they were just barbaric. The Nazis DID try wiping out a whole race of people.
If you want evil then look to the Romans, who were one of the largest in the whole slavery thing and inspired most of the modern "empires" we know.
