Anyone know what tadpoles eat?

We saved a few from a rapidly drying puddle about a week ago and now they are starting to hatch. It's been so cold out that the water around here is icy still. I want to put them back out soon but I'a bit concerned the shock would finish them right now.

You should have left the eggs where they were.

Anyway, fresh hatched tadpoles eat larva and algae. Basically just dump some stagnant water from outside and dump it in with them.

When they get bigger your gonna have to start adding maggots and wax worm types of things. If you have a bait shop near you ask for spikes.

@MethDozer The weather is warming so hopefully it won't come to that.

@ZenKitzune It's best not to remove them again. They are pretty resilient. The shock of being moved into a different temp when you release them is probably their biggest struggle now.

@MethDozer the puddle dried and froze in -6 below temps so I am pretty certain they would not have..or I would have left them.
