One time I was standing in a very long line to get some free ice cream. It occured to me that I could afford to buy all the ice cream I wanted. I walked away from the line and to this day I will not stand in line for free stuff.

Me. Nothing makes me want something less than the word free. If you're not paying for it with money, you're paying for it was something more valuable. Maybe time. Maybe information. Nothing is free.

Depends on what kind of free stuff it is. Some people will grab anything whether they need it or not.

I do prefer to pay my own way unless it’s a family or partner offering to pay. Free stuff isn’t always good stuff.

If it's good, and it's free, I would take it in a heartbeat as long as I am not taking it away from someone who needs it more. We have a table downstairs in the laundry room in my building, and people put things there that they don't want or can't use, and I have seen this really old guy down there in a scooter scooping all the cans of food off the table. You know he probably can't get to the food pantry. I think of that fairly often before I take anything from that table.

Depends what it is, if it's not something I feel I need/would use, I'd reject free stuff, but I'm not going to judge someone else on it, I'm not living their life and I can't judge what they need or would find useful
