Does the cold and snow make you depressed?

The extreme cold keeps me almost housebound, as I have no car.
My vehicle is my bike which I do miss terribly during the winter.
I feel sorry for the wildlife and all the vulnerable and homeless people during these sucky times of the year.
If we have a mild spell I will take the bike out do do my shopping to go to the library. But, not these days!

So YES. It really truly does make me depressed.
It's called SAD. Seasonal Affective Disorder. Many get it.
vitamin D is the only vitamin tht I know of which has been called by my former Dr the 'Happy Vitamin'. She is a specialist in Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Environmental Allergies.
Anyhow, about a decade ago, she suggested very emphatically that I take 3,000 IU D/day.
But these days, I take about 5-10 K/ day. Usually closer to ten. It's a vitamin which as you know, only the Sun can give us. If we live in more Northern Latitudes: the days are much shorter = less sun = immune system comprised = FLU.
I haven't had a flu shot in a decade, nor have I had the flu.

Take care, L.
