Even compliments hurt me.

I met a client today, her face lit up when she saw me.
"Oh good lord! Look at you! You are like a doll! A Barbie doll! Oh lord you made my day you're so beautiful".

I gave her a little chuckle. But my heart was sinking inside.

You can't make someone feel the way you want them to feel.

Give it time. The pain will subside. Then try again.

You’ve said that in a recent post and it seems to be a recurring theme. That’s the issue you need to keep working on if you want to have a successful relationship with anyone, especially yourself. Because that’s what keeps people around.
