Would you ever put compliments in a complaint box?
Just so they get some positive with their negatives

I wouldn't trust complaint boxes anyways. I noticed that sometimes the employees fish out and throw away all the complaints from the box as a means of counteracting getting disciplined for negative behavior. I don't trust complaint boxes and think they are unreliable as a means of knowledge.
