It does actually make sense to me that on a macro level things are getting worse while on a micro level it can still be a getting better. Glad you are receiving some good, everyone deserves a chance to live in this world, everyone who don't require solitary confinement though, and there's some of those in high places.

The world has definitely been better in the past, even this site. It also comes down to perspective and our ability to apply gratitude where it's due credit.

I feel things are the same age difference adds pressure tho

the world is getting worse, but the perverse joke is that the people who stereotypically always reliably, predictably pine for the past, generation after generation, pine for the wrong things, and are largely the very same demographic who is making the world objectively worse today, perhaps in its terminal phase now

in other words conservatives are typically the ones who simultaneously pine for the past, and also do everything in their power to make the world worse, like deregulating anything which needs sensible regulation as an example

and in a bit of irony, the MAGA strain of conservatism ostensibly pines for days like 1944 through 1963, yet does not also want to reinstate that top income tax rate of over 90%, which worked just fine, the economy was booming not hampered by high income taxes

hopefully the worst is behind us and now we are in clean up mode due to all the damage caused in the 19-20th centuries
