Why Do So Many People Worry About Others Opinions Of Them?

Because we are trained from birth to do that exact thing .
We are supoosed to care about how we look, what we have, where we live, what we drive, if we have kids, what our job is, how much we earn...
...it never ends.

Shit, even sex has been invaded by what we think we are supoosed to do and like.

I wonder if any people stop, breath, let it all go and actually look inside to what they really feel is essentially valuable to them.

@OogieBoogie yes but we’re supposed to care about that stuff for ourselves not anybody else.
@Primnproper but we dont.

And do we?

Does who i am change with where i live, what i drive, how i dress?

@OogieBoogie I’m talking about ourselves.. not material things. Showing our own personalities..I certainly don’t give a hoot about anyone else’s opinion of me because I’m confident in who I am and what I stand for and it’s shown by actions.
@Primnproper ok. Well that's good.

I was trying to answer your question 🤷‍♀️

People feel insecure....about a lot of things .

Especially if you have very little in life to support you.

Imagine : no house, no job, no family, no support, no car, no money, no one there to back you up?

Stuff like that can make others feel very vulnerable
They may be material things. But not having them, or having bad versions can affect many people 🤷‍♀️

@OogieBoogie yeah i totally get that and thats one of the reasons we should all be ready to support where we can even if its only our time we can give.

Because we are trained from birth
@OogieBoogie I think you got that exactly right.

As for "let it all go and actually look inside" - my intellect and my conditioned emotions are at odds with each other. My brain still cares about things "I" know it shouldn't - and reacts to them as programmed. "I" can critique my own reactions intellectually but that doesn't kill them.;
