@Primnproper @Guardian For everyone to already have Moksha, which is the ultimate goal of this life. For inner understanding you can to go through the Advaita philosophy.

@Primnproper There are various philosophies in India. There was no concept of religion in that land and people used to live by philosophies and moralities. Still there is no exact word in Sanskrit or Hindi to translate the word "Religion". The God in Hindu religion are not the same(concept) as the God in Abrahamic religions. The word "Dharma" is not the correct translation of Religion. People used to discuss different philosophies in a very organized system of debating called "Shashtrartha".

There was a time in history of India when one man, Adi Shakracharya, travelled the length and breadth of India and had Shashtratha(debate) with leading 84 followers of different philosophies. He not just defeated all 84, but convinced them to such an extent(by shashtrartha) that all of 84 became his disciples. He sent the in different parts of India to spread the message. Even today there are 84 shakracharya math(monastries) in India. I know the one of head of monastries personally. The Advaita philosophy that I shared with you was propounded by Adi Shankracharya, but originally it is derived from Vedas & Upnishad(Vedanta).

Story about an very popular debate of Adi Shankracharya with Mandan Mishra, a leading materialist before the debate.

Unfortunately which is dying today. The latest generation of India don't know anything about it. They have read the history of India written by outsiders. An introduction to the ancient Indian thought.

@ABCDEF7 if I wanted to seriously read into this, what would you suggest being the best books to look for as I find it extremely interesting.
ABCDEF7 · M
@Primnproper I hope you would enjoy the scene of Shashrartha described by the orator.

As I am not that much into the book reading, it's difficult for me to suggest books. And this all is very much vast and may need many books to get a whole picture. I would try to go through few genuine authors to find appropriate books for you. It would be easier for me, if you can share what aspect/topics you want to focus.

Have you read Shrimad Bhagwat Gita ?

@ABCDEF7 no but i shall look into it all..👍
