I grew up with just my dad, we were very poor. Just before closing, our local grocery store would put vegetables that were just short of spoiled, stale bakery items, and dented cans on a clearance shelf at a reduced price. So that’s when we would shop for groceries.
Usually he’d leave me in the car and leave the keys in the ignition. As soon as he’d go into the store, I’d start the car and drive around the parking lot….always careful to park in exactly the same spot.

@Dusty101 When I was older and confessed that I’d been doing that, my Dad and I had a really good laugh over it. I still laugh, when I think about it!
