@Musicman I just feed the feral cats when they are hungry. No tax write-off needed. Help locally and you know where your money is going.
@cherokeepatti Exactly! When a local shelter says they need cat food I donate cat food. That's not going in anyone's pocket. I have fed feral cats before. We haven't had any in a couple of years though.

@Musicman yes I have caught taken a couple of feral females to the animal shelter to be spayed. They will try to find homes (these were gentle enough to be adopted) and if they aren’t adoptable they will bring them right back to the neighborhood and drop them off with a clipped ear. Would still need to help them with food but they won’t be breeding and creating more ferals to feed. I have seen a room with the food, toys, towels, and other things that they need at the shelter and they get a good variety of items that are donated. Helps them stay on budget.
