I've been poor with kids. It was very hard and I prayed a lot. God came through. Groceries showing up at my door just when i needed them. Jobs coming at the right time. Ugly is something that happens to your insides when you let your suffering lead you to hate. It can get better from here.

I can only empathize with you. Is anyone at the shelter trying to help you find housing and a job so you can get out of the shelter. I was under the impression by state of Ohio laws that is the function of a Domestic Violence shelter as well as giving you a safe place until you can find a place of your own.

That sucks. Just know the people who call you ugly and ignore you, are suffering. There's nothing you can do about them, but there's something you can do about yourself. Know your own value, and know you're doing better than THEY are.
