I Believe That Black Lives Matter

This is not to combat all lives matter by any means. The purpose of this movement is to bring awareness to black lives. However, as a friend once told me controversy could have been lessened if the slogan was, "Black lives matter, don't they?" instead of "Black lives matter". Do you see the difference? In case you were incognizant of the guidelines, rules, or fine print of the movement, you can be both pro-black and pro-police.

Not all officers are inherently bad.

Police brutality is an issue that is dividing our nation and killing innocent people throughout this country.

We have an imbalance today where we either think logically or emotionally; some of us believe that it can't be both. Here's why: whether or not we want to admit it, we all have some sort of privilege and experience that shapes our values, beliefs, ethics, etc. That's fine. However, being sensitive to an issue by placing it in perspective can help promote unity.

Sometimes that is "the entire video" and "both sides of the story". Sometimes they are abiding by the officer's instructions. Stop making excuses for the bullies in blue/black/brown. Again, not ALL officers are bad. I have read many stories of great officers making this country a safer and more enjoyable place to live.

Yes, I am a firm supporter of abiding by the instructions given by an officer. However, we all have the right to respectfully ask & know whether or not we are being detained and for what reason without an officer becoming hostile and immediately reacting in a malicious manner. Some people in uniform take advantage of their power and this extends beyond the killing of [innocent] citizens. For example, I was driving home one day and saw 2 officers speed through a red light (without their lights on) and continue to race each other to their destination. I feared not only for myself, but for that mom who happens to glance back at her toddler for just a second and is immediately killed by the reckless officers. I have seen countless videos where police harrass citizens for the hell of it and nothing is done about it. That's a problem! We are told to respect authority when authority doesn't respect their sworn oath to serve and protect. Conducting an internal investigation and placing someone on suspension with pay is not a solution.

Well put, really hate how people take the Black Lives Matter to mean others don't. So small minded.
