Define: 'maturity,' as it relates to a person's character. What does it mean to be mature?

I don't mean the basic definition from the dictionary. I met this young woman last night at a party. She's only 20 years old. She told me she was 'mature.' Now I'm wondering what she meant by it. I have never heard anyone in her generation use that word.

I look at maturity as being responsible. For instance, my daughter is more mature than my son (who is 2 years older than her). If I go away, I have my daughter come over to house sit. I can breathe easy knowing the doors will be closed, locked, and the animals fed. The dog will be let out regularly. The litter box will be clean. The dishes will be washed and put away. If something goes awry, she will contact me.

With my son, it's a crap shoot.

@BrewCityBarfly Your son sounds like a typical man. 😂 Men tend to have a one track mind. Even I lose focus sometimes and forget to do things. If i dont mark stuff on my schedule, I'll forget. Keeing a task schedule/reminder may be an helpful tool for him.
