yes...flying makes more sense than taking the train from europe to the usa

It's his home now. I guess he saved enough on healthcare insurance and a property tax to be able to play some gig in Sacramento. He at least got paid for it, unlike people who just come back to visit a family or something like that.

What part of this doesn't make sense? I feel like I am missing part of the story.

@sben4200 it is a very long trip both ways with changing planes and all the other logistics required including all the gear and luggage. the jetlag also. with all the venues available in europe and asia why travel halfway around the world for one concert?? why not book several while here at least??

@1490wayb Ah. Now I understand. Hard to say if it makes sense or not. I guess there would be a number of factors.
Is he a highly paid big time musician? One gig may be worth it. Is he part of a larger band where there is other crew (potentially located in the US) who deal with the majority of the equipment? Is it a direct flight? Does performing in the US pay more than in Europe and is the cost of living lower in the Netherlands?

I can see there being other questions too but I get your point
