You know I was going to say the internet, but that's not true, in my view anyway. It depends on how you use it whether or not it's destructive. So I had to say cell phones and smartphone. I'll tell you why. You can't even visit with family anymore without them sitting in the living room with you and instead of visiting, having their nose stuck in their phones and answering texts constantly. That's awful, it has broken up families and friends. If you can't visit with your family without having your nose stuck in your phone constantly, that's not a relationship. Good post. 👍

Easily Covid. Not only do you have the tremendous loss of life that I know hits individuals tied to them more than society itself, the effects of Covid greatly impacted society. From the reminder of how little control we have over such a destructive force in its early, powerful days, to the enforcement of restrictions that affected everyday life for so many around the globe. And then there’s the pushback against certain restrictions, especially here in the states, that showcased a side of others that really decreased so many people’s faith in humanity. Covid touched us all in some way, and in such powerful ways that we’re still feeling its wraith today.

@bijouxbroussard I actually was hoping for that not to happen, though I guess you slipped it in.

well, covid-19 killed a lot of people especially older people. i dont know the effects of this on society but i know someone who was deeply negatively affected by it. i did get the covid vaccines and have been having health problems. idk if the jabs were the cause but it's definitely suspect. not to mention the inflation and everything like that. so i pick covid 19

Aside from events, One could probably argue that vanity, gender, money, religion, and bigotry have all damaged it. They create an us vs them society. Bigotry covers racism and homophobia. Money and religion can be controlled or replaced. Bigotry can be reduced with education and training. Misogyny is related to jealousy, strength, sex, and hormones and vanity is related to what we consider beauty to be. Both are defined by our needs and our standards. Those can change.

@ScreamingFox I'll be happy if you choose one of the five, was kind of hoping to stay within those.

I don't trust AI and all the connotations around it, ripe for abuse...
Plus....that movie series called 'Terminator'? Enough said!

True to my word, I zapped a bunch of answers. Please read the original post carefully.

To your society or are we talking about a global problem? Because 9/11 is a very local thing.

The internet / cell phones. It's all tied together.

P.S. AI will probably surpass that given time.

Covid destroyed citizens faith in democracy.
Governments used it as a portal to introduce draconian legislation in an attempt to control the masses.

So just to be clear......if we do not say only what you want us to.....you delete the comment?
anythingoes477 · 31-35, M
@uncalled4 IF people do not read your posts..........that may be because they are uninteresting to them. Not their fault. And controlling what others says .......or does........on SOCIAL media........is pretty unrealistic. ONLY a very controlling person thinks they can do that.. Consider...... if u do like controlling what others say and do to your posts..............that mostly backfires because most don't like that. And if they don't like being told what to talk about....and what they can't.....or you delete what they did take time to respond to ur posts.........................then they pretty quickly either block you or avoid your posts even more. And that cuts down even more on the number of responses you "think" you should get. Just sayin'. Controlling...........backfires.

Cel phones led to the Internet.
Tastyfrzz · 61-69, M
@Iwillwait actually, it was the way we made hard drives. Before 2003 hard drive memory was formatted one at a time. It took 15 minutes and was going to exceed an hour very soon. In 2003 we started formatting the disks in mass and then installing them so drives could be finished every 3 seconds on each line. That drove the cost of memory down allowing for the creation of servo farms and internet providers like aol and ultimately Google. Currently there are 6000 formatting machines in Singapore. The machines have not changed much in ten years. Replacement parts can not be found. Solid state drives are gradually replacing hard drives but are much more expensive (24x). When the MDWs (formatting machines) encoder lasers die in the next five years from old age, that will be it.
