Get into deep debt with accumulating interest to be for things that they could cut back expenses on and use money that they’ve earned and saved to pay for it. Weddings are one example. Keeping up with the Joneses by buying expensive things one after another for show and status. Then wanting more. And cutting their budgets so tight with these credit payments they need to have garage sales to buy groceries.

@cherokeepatti My ex sister in law would do that. Her 4 kids were always hungry, you could reach them on the phone as they hadn't paid the bill, and they were constantly asking for money. I'd take a couple of bags of groceries to them and stopped after she rummaged through them and said there were no cigarettes.
