I used to be embarrassed/ashamed for being Hispanic/Latino

In short, it was due to political tension in the U.S., and it was something I couldn’t avoid. It was years of self-hatred and avoidance of my parent’s culture.

I now know I can’t be ashamed of something I can’t control. I know I have to accept that’s what I am and not hate it. That’s all I could really do.

Like you mentioned, no one should feel ashamed nor embarrassed on how nature made us. Or about family background, we have no control over either.

"political tension"

This present admin of bigots h4tes us all. Black, brown, white... They pretend to like the straight white folks but if MAGA had it's way, we would ALL be gonners.
Feeling ashamed or afraid of who we are is what THEY want.

So who am I? A white LGBT. The only thing I really judge someone on is - how do people treat me? Normally it is pretty good.
