Do you decide your beliefs, or do they decide you?

Positive beliefs are based on how you happen to the world in ways you choose.

Negative beliefs are based how the world happens to you in ways you don’t choose.

It’s the classic argument of… Seeing is believing vs. Believing is seeing.

I think that if you decide what you believe then you're not really believing at all, at least at first. Of course you can try to go in a certain direction and grow faith, but it has to be somewhat natural, something that springs up in you.

@MartinTheFirst The most unnatural thing I ever did was decide a belief. While the most natural thing was letting them decide me.
