Do you decide your beliefs, or do they decide you?

Positive beliefs are based on how you happen to the world in ways you choose.

Negative beliefs are based how the world happens to you in ways you don’t choose.

It’s the classic argument of… Seeing is believing vs. Believing is seeing.

I think they choose me.
Im always searching for what i feel are truths.
I listen to a lot of and most of it rolls around my head and rolls out.
But sometimes something will click into a socket inside like a jigsaw puzzle piece and it 'feels' right.
Some are challenged by life, some are changed by experience.

@NOS4R2 Do you ever have struggles finding the truth? I mean… is that hard? Or is the search something you enjoy?
NOS4R2 · 41-45
@Reject i do enjoy the search. I also never expect to 'keep' the truths I've gathered. Some stay, some unexpectedly get replaced by what i feel are better ones.
Some truths are also contextual - used in some circumstances and not others.
I used to see it as a struggle, now i see it like a travelling exhibition: some days you learn, others, you just enjoy the show.

@NOS4R2 That’s good! 😌 Why did it stop being a struggle? What changed to make you enjoy it?
NOS4R2 · 41-45
@Reject i realised there is no end game. There's no final 'knowing' . That what one knows and works for one stage or context of life, doesnt mean it works for another stage or context. Life is in constant flux. I may work and live happily in my parameters for a while, but it takes only one element to disrupt that peace and i may need to change the workable rules i live by. My beliefs may change to cope or find solutions to that new dynamic.
It was a hard awakening to know that i will never know enough pentultimate knowledge to know peace and be wise and feel i have it all sorted out. But then learning that is what opened the door to stopping the struggle to attain the unobtainable.
With no ultimate goal, theres no pressure to attain it. Therein is the joy of knowledge for learnings sake as opposed to knowledge for accumulations sake.

@NOS4R2 So life is a matter of constantly adapting and accepting that helped you. I can see that. So I guess one might say the only absolute is that there are no absolutes.
NOS4R2 · 41-45
@Reject yes. That's a good way to put it. And that there is no need to strive for absolutes.
