Trying to decide what someone else's boundaries should be is exactly why boundaries exist.

And they're not up to you.
That pull towards cohesion.
That desire to control and bend the world to your will and to your understandings.
That fear for yourself worded as love.
That self- deceit driven to deceive others into reflecting your own comfortable beliefs about them.

They are all reasons why boundaries exist. They offer balance you might lack to consider measuring others' lives by your own limited complexities.

Agreed, it's really basic decency to respect someone's boundaries. Honestly I'm of the viewpoint that some people try to over step someone else's boundaries on purpose. I've seen too many people just do things simply for reactions or to feel superior.
