Depends on the situation. In general I try to focus on the words they speak and take that at face value and not read anything more into it…. Except with my teenagers… 😂

The best thing to do really is to always be vigilant when you meet people. It does take time, it won't happen over night but the best thing you can do is retaliate with logic and reason - even when you're angry. Remember not to shout OR swear if it's in public though. If anything is construed as offensive you could be charged depending on the circumstances.
