Oh, yeah…
My parents had lived in the hills forever (Pop still lives there). Décades ago, they spent two months in New Orleans during my grandfather’s last illness. While they were gone, some new neighbors moved in across the street.
On the day the folks were scheduled to return, my brother and I went to the house, to make sure everything was okay. Another neighbor, who knew us, had been collecting the newspapers.
But these new neighbors, particularly the wife, who didn’t know us and had never even met our parents, called the police and told them we were robbing the house. One of the police who arrived on the call was my brother’s colleague.
