Just a question I have regarding drugs and police officers just letting them go????

So someone very close to me dozed off at her job last night & of course they blamed it on drugs. This person DOES have a history with drugs, but apparently is sober now, I don’t really know. She had a meth charge in like 2018… This man at her work called the cops on her last night, cop interrogated her in the parking lot.. Cop eventually searched her car & her purse, said they found all kind of residue on her belongings and even did drug tests on all the residue he collected right there in the parking lot, said it came back positive for meth… but then… he said “I’m just gonna let you go on and leave, but I’m not letting you drive so call someone to come get you” (she called me).. and idk, I’m just wondering if he really found all this residue that came back positive, would he really have just let her go?! Or was he just sayin that it was positive for meth to scare her…
He kept her there for about 2 hours interrogating her, he was apparently off duty, wasn’t in uniform, but had a trainee with him. He kept saying she was gonna go to jail bc of all this residue that came back positive, but eventually just let her go??

Not on duty with a trainee? Interrogating and searching a veh. for narcotics? Pure Bull. Did not happen, period.

@bowman81 nope. It did happen. She’s got video of some of it. First thing he said was “I was called out of bed to come deal with this tonight, I just wanna go back home” or something along those lines. I heard it. And she is going to try to sue. He didn’t have a body cam on or anything!

@bowman81 this is the police officer. Out of uniform.

@SW-User That story is either a fairy tale or the "off duty cop and trainee" were imposters. Think about it. If he were called out of bed by his department he would NOT have been off duty? The department also called in a trainee? Not hardly! Overtime is expensive. If it was the police there will be a report. If it was the police, and it happened anywhere near like what you said, they won't be officers for long.
You are getting only part of the story.

@bowman81 also when he searched the vehicle he half assed searched it, only searched the front part of her car.. and half assed did it, she said she thinks he half assed it bc he knew he really didn’t have probable cause .. this was a small town & the whole interaction seemed very off & illegal. I’m dumb and young and don’t understand any of this which is why I made this post.

@bowman81 I think the person that called probably called this officers cell phone or something… bc it’s a very very very small town. I think he called his personal phone but honestly I don’t even know. I’m just tryin to get other peoples opinions. My family member said it all seemed very illegal and she wants to look into suing
