What are y'all thoughts on the "Passport Bros"?

I've been seeing this as some sort of movement all over the internet, and people are going insane. I think it's a good thing, but it's also something to be wary of.

It's an exploitative and toxic trend.
Evident by philippinian marriage practice where women who want to be free from traditional and societal chains in their homeland seek out relationships with western men who then replicate the traditional stereotypes they tried to escape from.

@BritishFailedAesthetic That's something on my own I have to do, and I don't need dating to figure it out.
@Gloomy True. There is a strong correlation between the degree of liberty and prosperity in a society, and how women are treated. And the place of women can be gauged by the availability of contraception and abortion. No society can be truly free if half of the population is forced to serve as incubators.

Abdullah Ocalan, the founder of the Kurdistan Workers Party, has advocated "Jineology," a form of feminism designed to resist the rigid gender roles of Middle Eastern society.
The extent to which society can be thoroughly transformed is determined by the extent of the transformation attained by women. Similarly, the level of woman’s freedom and equality determines the freedom and equality of all sections of society. . . . For a democratic nation, woman’s freedom is of great importance too, as liberated woman constitutes liberated society. Liberated society in turn constitutes democratic nation. Moreover, the need to reverse the role of man is of revolutionary importance.
@xSiFiGamer2016x Dude, get out of the habit of taking the drivel that gushes out of women's mouths as gospel. Cursory research alone would debunk this and suggest that she's never been ot lived in the place.

There's BS in any country but it doesn't align to any significant extent with what she's saying. However they always conveniently have this one friend who grew up there and can corroborate their claims.

People traveling abroad trying to find love is nothing new. "Passport bros" is just a rebranding of the concept.

I do not know why anyone would want to marry someone from another continent because that could cause problems that one could not previously even imagine.
xSiFiGamer2016x · 22-25, M
@CestManan From what I've heard and seen, it has a lot to do with the western society.
CestManan · 46-50, F
@xSiFiGamer2016x When we are young it seems SO important to get laid, have romance, etc.
It is not "Western society" so much as it is hormones.

This won't help right now but as we age and our hormones calm down, all that just doesn't seem real important. Yeah one can still "get off" and would like a partner but we tend to be more realistic. Things like, "Do I really want to introduce someone into my life that might screw up everything? Just for someone to f***?"

Also I am about to send a PM of something you might like.
xSiFiGamer2016x · 22-25, M
@CestManan That's up to you to send it. And I can see what you mean. I question myself over and over if I wanted to get laid, but thoughts like that slowly dwindle. I don't really need sex to define who I am. I can still get tasks done, with or without a relationship.
Rolexeo · 26-30, M
I don't see the problem with it. It pisses off a lot of women though cause they want guys to simp for them and stuff like that.
xSiFiGamer2016x · 22-25, M
@Rolexeo As what I've seen in many TikTok videos. Many have said that those guys are broke, but how can that be in a passport that can range between $500-2,000+?
Rolexeo · 26-30, M
@xSiFiGamer2016x They have a lot of misconceptions, especially about the women. Like they're uneducated, dumb, poor, etc.
xSiFiGamer2016x · 22-25, M
@Rolexeo Exactly! I don't see how they're all the above. They're saying this as if they've been there before. Take the Philippines as an example, a good one at that. The people not only speak with their own language, the second is English. They speak VERY well. It's ridiculous that people judge a book by it's cover. 🤦🏾‍♂️
AlchemyFox · 36-40, F
I guess find love where you can. I don’t think humans are capable of actual movements. We just shift focus and blame and run away from the problems we cause.
xSiFiGamer2016x · 22-25, M
@AlchemyFox Yeah, arrogance is a thing here. If there was a miracle, which I honestly doubt, then it would've been a safer place. I, myself, am seeing this as a sign that being single is completely fine. And I follow to what you're saying.
AlchemyFox · 36-40, F
@xSiFiGamer2016x I think the days of believing in safety and security are over. Some people find it and live it, I’m happy for them. But I prefer to be a realist about it. I have a child and he comes first. And I don’t expect anyone to care about us anymore.
xSiFiGamer2016x · 22-25, M
@AlchemyFox And you're doing a fine job at that. 👏

Go where you are wanted. Simple as that.

It’s nothing new. Mail order brides have been around for a long time. Hell, that’s how my family immigrated from France ages ago. Technology just makes it easier. To my understanding, though, the term passport bros mostly refers to guys continent hopping to get laid, not looking for marriage.
xSiFiGamer2016x · 22-25, M
@WhateverWorks Yeah, some wanted to get laid, others for marriage. So, this trend is nothing but a modern day mail order brides?
fishescycle · 26-30
It would help if you (concretely) defined the concept you're talking about, to be certain.
xSiFiGamer2016x · 22-25, M
@fishescycle From what I've gathered, it's where men pay passports to go overseas for a wife, a traditional one. Our country is the main problem as to why it happens. Men still want traditional stuff where as women in the west got a lot less with it.

It makes sense as western society is broken
CestManan · 46-50, F
@randome That may be but what if someone married outside their culture and soon ran into problems they previously did not know existed?
it is better to dance with the devil you do know rather than the one you do not.
Gloomy · F
@randome yes western capitalism but where do you see a problem with dating?
It's such an individual thing anyway
How is this a new thing? I’ve heard about “mail order brides” since the 1990s.
xSiFiGamer2016x · 22-25, M
@LeopoldBloom I'm not sure if I've heard of that before.
@xSiFiGamer2016x It was a big deal, where American men would get catalogs of Eastern European and Asian women, and arrange to marry them. It was great for men who had no hope of getting laid any other way, and the women got to live in the US.

@LeopoldBloom Well damn, this is pretty much modern day mail order brides. 🤯
