Children aren't allowed to be children anymore.

I believe children should be allowed to have a voice, opinions. No child should have to suffer in silence.
Children should be allowed to be happy, and be listened to.

However, I don't agree with parents who influence their childrens choices.
Let them figure it out for themselves.

Don't subject them to anything they can't possibly process properly. Growing up is tough enough as it is.

Just be a responsible adult/parent.

Not difficult.

It's been stated by some that children have a drug problem. They get drug everywhere by there parents to things that they may or may not be interested in. When my son was in 7th grade i recall a night when we attempted to get to violin lessons, piano lessons, soccer practice, karate lessons, cub scouts, and confirmation. After that i said, " pick two!". In the end he was an eagle scout and played in chamber orchestra. He even completed confirmation but has never set foot into a church since unless it was for a friend's wedding.
@Tastyfrzz you are a really good parent for giving him choice. my parents did much the same for me, and I’ve finally just returned to going to church after about 25 years away, just barely over a year ago. I left at the time because I’m gay and didn’t feel like I had a place anymore. I’m still gay but I found a more liberal church with a priest I talk to that accepts me for who I am. He even came to my wife and I’s secular wedding. He very much knows I’m gay and hasn’t refused me communion. This is a balance that I can accept. I was very religious when I was young and even considered when I was a girl becoming a nun. This was a very beautiful homecoming for me but I thank god everyday for wonderful parents that allowed me to find my own way. I was also confirmed btw and left the church after I graduated high school and left our town.

@DarkHeaven unity church here has a gay pastor. He's quite good.
@Tastyfrzz I honestly thought about that. In the end, I decided I like the comfort of my own faith I was raised with, but with the caveats that a liberal church where I can feel acceptance.

Thank you for sharing your story and please keep sharing your message. We’ve got to speak louder than the hateful people that supposedly are Christians, so people can know us by our love once again. It’s important.
