Children aren't allowed to be children anymore.

I believe children should be allowed to have a voice, opinions. No child should have to suffer in silence.
Children should be allowed to be happy, and be listened to.

However, I don't agree with parents who influence their childrens choices.
Let them figure it out for themselves.

Don't subject them to anything they can't possibly process properly. Growing up is tough enough as it is.

Just be a responsible adult/parent.

Not difficult.

Actually, when children were “treated like children" at least according to our country’s theists, they were to be ”seen and not heard". So you almost can’t have it both ways. If you think children should have a voice and be allowed opinions (and I agree with you) you don’t want them treated in the traditional way many people here treated children.

What’s preferable is to treat them like people, because they are going to need reasoning skills and the ability to think for themselves. Bullying them, threatening them with beatings might’ve made them fearful and easy to control, but I don’t I see that helping anyone become a well-functioning adult.

But you can find plenty of sexual fetishists coming from that background.

@bijouxbroussard And I agree again, especially the "But you can find plenty of sexual fetishists coming from that background."

@bijouxbroussard I try so hard to let my kids be heard and have a voice…
I talk so much with them about stuff. I try to be sure the thoughts that fuel the voice are good.

My kids can get wild as fuck… and I don’t mind that, until I’m scared someone is getting hurt or if they are being disrespectful. I’m more afraid of injury than anything else. My son is a bit over 2 and a half yrs old, he can climb our jungle gym (dome) in backyard and get himself all the way over and climb back down other side, he then tries to climb stuff and jump off furniture (that’s an immediate no from me)
@WaryWitchWandering I’ve read your posts about your children. Imo, you’re a great mother. 😊
Some of the childhoods people describe here (assuming they’re not just trying to shock) were pretty horrific. 😞
