Spam liking, what's it really about?

Has anyone ever actually responded with ooh I must talk to this person now. I undestand when you follow someone and they see your albums then spam like that makes sense. The other spam liking that seems meticulated to get someone to talk to them it never works surely? It a mild form of stalking to me.
