Two scuzzy characters in the news

The following two news stories are unrelated, but they followed each other on my phone's news feed this morning, and I kinda threw up my hands in dismay at how sick some people can be.

In Florida, a mother and her 8-year old daughter were shopping in a grocery store when they were approached by Helmuth Kolb, who offered to "buy" the 8-year old for $100,000.

Meanwhile, in Colorado, social worker Robin Niceta was revealed to have had a lovely little scam going. On more than one occasion, when she would go to a home she was assigned to investigate, she would pressure the mother to have sex with her. If the mother refused, Niceta would fabricate false evidence of child abuse and she would perjure herself in court in order to get "revenge" by having the child removed from the home.

Both outstanding citizens are now in custody.

And I hope they stay in prison... for a long, long time. Sometimes I lose hope in humanity.

Thank God they were caught. Some people are absolutely devoid of any kind of morals

Two that made the news. That sort of behavior goes on most every day in most every community and the scuzzy ones either go unidentified or quietly through the criminal justice system. It is hard to fathom what makes it "newsworthy" to the press. Why do some stories have legs and others hardly get noticed at all?

@bowman81 I imagine they have to get arrested before they make the news. And many never get arrested. Or, in the case of public figures, they at least have to be publicly accused, and often that does not happen either.

They should both get a one bed cell with Big Hairy.

If more people only knew about CPS. They would be shocked. It's truly unbelievable.

Such outstanding citizens need outstanding punishment.

Nothing surprises me about the USA these days ☹️☹️

@Dlrannie Sadly, I have the same reaction. I get furious, but not surprised.
They definitely deserve prison.
