is the landlord supposed to put us up in a hotel or something ?

We live in an apartment & got a gas leak , the whole apartment building is now without hot water & they say it’ll likely be until Monday before it’s fixed ?!

Not generally - but read your agreement as you may be entitled to some compensation. Even if its silent, you can always ask.
