Why do we live in an age where boys want to be girls and girls want to be boys?

I'm not against anyone, just want to know how one may think that he's born in the wrong gender and the grass is always greener on the other side.

For me it's I'm a girl trapped in a boys body. I suffer with dysphoria so my brain sees my gender as female but that conflicts with my biological sex which is male and sends bad signals which lead to bad thoughts which leads many in my position to suicide. Not me tho.
