Humans have huge brains but aren't doing anything with it. Is that like that person that goes to college get a degree and becomes a crackhead?

Lot of people who actually contributed to humanity ended up battling with addictions..

I think we glorify our reasoning faculties little too much. Maybe it is compassion that makes the difference.
