Lesbianism in conservative societies

My friend's sister is a lesbian, but my friend doesn't know, and keep telling me my sister is glued to her friend... She doesn't know it is her girlfriend 🤦‍♀️ Me; awkward smile... I've known for four years now, and the funny thing is that I am not even close AT ALL to her sister, but she just told me one time just like that, and I think one of the reasons she felt comfortable telling me is because she felt I was bi myself. When I first met her, with her then girlfriend, I instantly picked up that this was not a friendship, although it was introduced to me as such at first.. Funny she has had different girlfriends over the years, and my friend still cannot see the pattern lol.

I can’t imagine having to hide my sexuality from my family, I really feel for anyone who isn’t accepted
Makes me sad, in so many places we still have to hide who we love. Be well. 🖤
I’ve often wondered how people deal In societies where it’s really frowned upon. Here we hear stories about gay men being tossed off of buildings, lesbians being lashed. I don’t know if it’s true or just media misinformation.

Of course, I don’t forget for a minute that here men used to go to prison for so-called "sodomy" laws. Women with children from previous marriages, lost custody instantly.

One of the biggest ironies ever was that in the South, it was once not illegal to have sex with an animal even while there were laws on the books there prohibiting consensual sex with an adult human being of the same gender or a different color. 🤯

@bijouxbroussard Anything that has a religious support, people get all crazy about it. So they'd get all angry about homosexuality, but would only shake their head and find it funny how some people have sex with animals. I don't believe that what you mentioned is completely misinformation, yet it may have been 'too generalized' on the media. People won't throw each other off buildings just like that everywhere, but I am sure it could happen/have happened in certain areas where culture is really conservative. For example where I live, there is law that's well enforced, so you won't see people acting that uncivilized enforcing rules with their own hands, but then it is against the law to be gay here, so you could get in legal troubles for that. So it depends on the area, and i think most people just hide it to protect themselves regardless. I mean the least is that peopel will look down upon you and consider you an incomplete human or something for that
@bijouxbroussard That unfortunate event actually happened in Syria around 2014 I remember LGBT community talking about it and there was a similar incident in Iran in 2021. But like Potato says those are very rare, thankfully laws are respected and just on general you need to be really messed up to commit murder no matter what your reasons are unless it's self-defense which is another story.

If you feel comfortable doing so, perhaps talk to the lesbian sister about coming out at least to her sister. The stress of maintaining such a secret must be awful. Everyone needs to be comfortable with the way they were born.
I'm glad she's happy despite all the negativity. It's hilarious that her sister doesn't know shit lol
@BittersweetPotato That's sweet, that should give you hope for your future. Freedom is nice. I've talked to a couple of guys who are gay and live in a similar way here in Turkey.

@PiecingBabyFaceTogether yea she offered me once to go live with her too .. it is nice to be able to freely live your life the way you wish especially after reaching a certain age when you can't take shit anymore.. I imagine the situation in Turkey is much friendlier regarding gays isnt it?
@BittersweetPotato Friendlier than Arab countries for sure but not like Europe or USA. Meaning you're free to be whatever you are as long as you mind your business, some LGBT demonstrations were broken up by the police but that's it so yea at least they can get their voice heard without losing everything like in Egypt.. Other than that again nobody will care about what you do in your life and that's something missing from Egypt too, in there people are rude and very judgemental you know the drill you saw it on my FB.

This was a hard post to pick the appropriate reaction for. Are there many spinsters who are roommates by you?
