How the "greater good" is used as a tool of social control

This is not all of it but roughly paraphrased, the Fallacy of Misplaced Concreteness occurs when one treats what is abstract as if it has a concrete existence. Society is an abstraction, it can not speak, think, act or choose. So a group has to be granted in order to define what is societally good so the greater good has always been in the interest of those in power.

The individual is always urged to be some sacrificial lamb for society in which this has always seen as act of benevolence.
