Maintenance

Hello,

Similar Worlds will be temporarily unavailable for about 2 hours, to allow us to make an upgrade to our servers.

This maintenance is scheduled to take place at: [b][c=#FF0000]Saturday May 27th, 2:00 AM Central Time (7:00 AM GMT)[/c][/b] and should take about [b]2 hours[/b] to complete.

We are very happy that our community is growing, and we need to improve our backend so that we can support the growing traffic and data, while improving reliability at the same time.

After those 2 hours, everything will be back to normal.

A notice that you were going to paint with a broad brush and wrongly impose auto block would have been nice. Instead of the underhanded way it was done. You can sure sure EPArsineh or EPArman would have had announcement as a header at the top of our pages.

Now all who are over 18 are painted as perverts or predators. No matter their sex or gender. All are assumed as such.

This will force honest people to be dishonest. They will delete their account and come back with a fake email and age -and refriend those mentors they lost. As a 15 year old looking for parental guidance she is not getting at her broken home is NOT getting it from one that is 17!

But this was all done hush-hush. Good intentions. I get that. Good intentions that went bad. This is an idea that should have been out to open forum on the site.

@MrBrownstone: I am talking about the autoblock feature imposed earlier this week. Have you seen on some questions and stories that all you see are blurs as icons? They are under 18. Were you talking to any in PM that were 17 ? I was, A number did come for advise or just to BS. We can no longer. ONLY--if we see them post a question or story.

@SimplyTracie: Really? Kinda sad as you are sweet and I am sure, while not that much older, you could have talked to some younger and had their ear on issues you shared. Believe me, I ma all for protecting minors. I get the good that this was meant to do. And the good intentions behind it. But I also know the vast majority on this site are NOT perverts, predators or sexual deviants. My point is that this was implementing underhandedly-and without taking into all considerations.

And to be fair, I also some 8-17 are glad they are no longer bothered by those 18 and up -and perhaps they ARE receiving less unwanted PM's.

@SimplyTracie: I have heard that theory advanced as well . And this is also something SW admin failed to post of and alert us about. IF--that is the case. Early on I believed it. But then some that as nice as nice can be started having the issue I talk of- and I discarded that thought.

But you may be right about the algorithm you speak of. SW admin talking OF that existing is called transparency.

@Elandra77: I believe you're right though. I haven't seen MeJess posting in awhile or a few other 13-15 years old posts. But I don't think the 16-17 have been affected

@SimplyTracie: i had mejess in my PM list, We talked a time of two, I show her to be an "X" . Meaning she is no longer a member of the site. We can still reply to 16-17 IF they post a question or story- and we see it. But we cannot go to their account to see recent stories. So if we miss it- we miss it.
