As a Man Utd supporter I'm obviously biased in my support for Ronaldo, he was the best footballer I ever saw play live. Consistently changing games with a burst of pace, power, finishing and his phenomenal free kicks.
With regard the Messi v Ronaldo debate, Messi probably edges it with a world cup win, but he has played in some brilliant Argentina and Barcelona sides. At times Ronaldo carried Portugal.
But why choose? We've had the privilege of witnessing two of the greatest footballers ever, playing in the same era.
Let's just enjoy it.
Sad to see the end (probably?) of Ronaldo's international career, but look in the wings at who is coming through? Yamal could be the next Messi, Mbappe probably more similar to Ronaldo. Unfair to compare and I think it will be a while before we get two players dominating the Ballon D'or for so many years.
It's been a pleasure.

@Mindfulness
I remember that heartbreaking loss 😤, at least they came back 2 years later to give them a spanking.
@BluntSm0ker Too little too late!

@Burnley123 And Gerrard's appalling and obviously bad dive actually being rewarded with a penalty!

I felt the biggest issue for Ronaldo, and Portugal, was their Manager/ Coach. Having failed so miserably with such a brilliant Belgian squad he's now done the same with a fabulous Portugese squad. He picked Ronaldo, but didn't use him properly. Norway are looking amazing by using Haaland properly. He hardly ever touches the ball, but he prowls the penalty area waiting for the chance. And yet the team really didn't use Ronaldo in that way. And so Ronaldo never looked like the threat he still is. A waste of a great player and a potentially fabulous Portugese team.

@22Michelle I don't quite agree that Martinez was a failure at Belgium because they did finish third at a World Cup.

Norway do use Harkand because they hit long valka to him. His pace means that he's also a contract threat in behind.

The best use for Ronaldo would be on the bench as an impact sub for twenty minutes but I doubt Ronaldo would been ok with that. Failing that Martinez should have just picked other players.

@22Michelle Martinez win loss record for Portugal is the best theyve ever had...just saying. Even with playing a man his 40s as a striker.

@vorian He did have what was referred to as the "Golden Generation". Was he a total failure, definitely not. Could he, and should he have achieved more, definitely yes. And I think the same is true with Portugal.

I remember when he came on the scene in "Euro 2004" I was "wow'ed" by his skills.

He was ok if he didnt move...touch is there and he can still finish. But my god...as soon as he had to move he looked like an old man. Sad.
