Need advise on how to ventilate

My dad is 90 years old a proud smoker. I will not judge his choices at this stage. Over the years he has been respectful of everyone and smokes in a bathroomin the center of the house. My mom has developed COPD and I need to get a better ceiling fan or other ideas to ventilate the room without construction Thoughts

When my parents were living with us they both chain smoked. We installed several hepa filters, and it did help, but the filters had to be thrown out every month as they would be completely covered in tar and other gross stuff. I cannot imagine what that does inside your body.
Can you convince them to smoke outside?

@JamesBugman he really doesnt smoke it properly. He just loves haze and romance of it all. Expensive habit for haze eh?
@TeaUrchin Can you get him some of those candied cigarettes?

@JamesBugman those are banned in Canada. Also i should mentions he id a diabetic.
@TeaUrchin Oh come-on, work with me here.. How can we fix this? Vape? I dunno, buy some hollow tubes or something? Is there such a thing as an AI cigarette? or EV or something?

@JamesBugman I tried to get him to vape. That is how i found out he never draws it in(or whatever it is called). He told the kids at the shop that their recommendations are not valid until they are as old as him.

I tried to get him to use patches no go.

Tried counselling (he went on his own). I think the counsellor started to smoke again

Tried hypnotism (he went on his own. They found his will too strong)

He was never much of a snacker and his dentures always hurt so carrots sticks, with diabetes he tried sugarless candy...nope

He describes like its a love affair. He watched all the old Hollywood black and white movies and old smoking ads. He is willing to ignore his family (mom-copd, me asthma)/friends, to starve and to give away his money just to keep smoking. He refuses to let go.

A person like that that you cant change. I've given up. Ive chosen to mitigate, and remind him constantly. I recently discussed cleaning his bathroom (my house). It came out to 3k cad. He was very angry taking it out on me...then it stopped.

I have no ideas unless voodoo works?

Incense would work for the hazy effect.

@RunTheJulz we all tried that over the years. He chooses strong smelling insense because thats all he can smell and drowns the place. If you switch it out he complains and sulks. He really is oblivious to his surround if cigarettes are near. Its smokey but oh dear, no one can breathe.

@RunTheJulz thank you. It will be whatever it is meant to be
