I quit after 18 years. My reasoning for quitting was, I had no income at the time, plus I started developing emphysema. I miss smoking, but ultimately am glad I quit.
I quit when I was 38. Apparently, the earlier you quit, the better off you will be in the long run.
Enjoy it for now, but if you start coughing up phlegm for no reason, that's emphysema which is a health condition related to smoking, and it affects your breathing. I work with people in their 60s who seem like they are 80 because they smoke.
One person here has all kinds of breathing problems and is on oxygen, but still smokes.
