More than anything she likes bonding with her mother. She might like the smoking on some level. She doesn't look likes she hates it.
As somone who was raised by a mother who smoked around me all the time (which was common at the time) it is so normal to you that you hardly notice it. People would find this hard to believe today but when I visited a friend's housing with parents who didn't smoke the non- smoking environment actually seemed strange to me, like something was missing.
