Actually, I found the cigarettes to be easier than beer. I turned 55 last week. I've been a beer drinker since age 16. In my later years, I would drink between 3-8 beers an evening to take the edge off. The average was probably 5-6. I still miss drinking and partying, but by doing it too much I ruined a good thing. Quitting both at the same time was hard, but I had a very caring support staff: family, dr., nurse practitioner and therapist. I was told the success rate would be 5%. I despise being told something isn't possible.
I still think about it occasionally because I'm a sports fan. The TV tends to bombard you with beer commercials and the party environment of having friends over.
Whatever, no one needs to shed a tear for me. I started it. I ended it.
However, if you'd ever like more than the surface description I've given here, I'd be happy to help, genuinely. PM me any time and I'll give you the exact steps, physically and mentally, that I did to succeed.
You'll quit when the time is right. There are many things to make it easier too. Start to slow down s bit first. Start a workout regimen first. Both will help. I can fill in the blanks when you want me to.
Be well!
