i like your new found attitude!! i mean, its like i lost my dad to Skin cancer in 2006, and i remember the first time my dad went for his appointment with his doctor, the guy asked him "have you ever used sunbeds before?" and my dad said no, and the doctor said that they always ask that question first, cos most of the patients he see's have used a sunbed at some point in their life, and no matter how many times they try to warn people not to use sunbeds, people still use them!!

Thanks. Yes I was luckier than many with the same type. I don't like to be a hypocrite but I do tell people who have the attitude "it will Never happen to me", you are fooling yourself. I thought that too. During my 40 years of smoking I tried to quit maybe 5 or 6 times but never lasted more than 2 weeks. Nicotine is an addictive drug in its own way, only legal for most. Encourage anyone you know who smokes to quit. Tell them the "survivor" said so lol ;)

I am very sorry about your dad. It is true that tanning beds can be as bad for you as the actual sun. I used to sunbathe all the time time as a kids and young adult. The Tanner I got the happier I was. But we have to learn from progress and they say use sunscreen and don't roast yourself lol. If you want to try and live a healthy life you have to do what is best for you even when you think it sucks.

thanks, i know, its just that so many people just seem to have this attitude of "oh, but they say everything causes cancer these days!!" but, people dont realise that its the advancement in science and research over the years thats telling us that these things cause cancer!!

No i quit in December 2010 a few months before I was diagnosed with lung cancer. Was kind of a kick in the ass but I was glad when I started treatment that I didn't have to try and quit. I am one of the lucky ones who survived a grim diagnosis.

wow, im so sorry to hear that, but glad you are still with us to tell the tale!! a family friend of mine, used to smoke close on 50 a day, then one of the guys that works for him (another family friend) got diagnosed with a heart problem and was told if he didn't quit smoking it could kill him. so, he had managed to stay off them for like a month or so, then our other friend who owns the business was like "well if he can do it, so cam i!!" , so he quit too, and till this day he hasn't smoked since, but the guy with the heart problem has gone back to smoking again!!

That's great, don't ever go back. I smoked 40 years and it is very bad for you as I well know.
