I Dont Like Drugs

I've Never Taken Drugs Of Any Kind..

I'm proud of that fact and that I've never even wanted to try them..
What amazes me as I spend more time on this site is the amount of youngsters that are using drugs on such a regular basis it's considered "the norm"
Even adults that know what a waste of money it is and how it's a mugs game still use what they call "grass, happy baccy, marijuana"
I have friends that have used it regularly but not around me, it doesn't affect our friendship but obviously I won't condone it and I would never allow it in my home..
I know some use it for medical purposes, but I have a lot of medical issues and suffer a lot of pain and I didn't think of smoking to handle it..
So my thought is why has it become such an accepted part of society and why do so many use them..Is it because their not strong enough to deal with the real world with a clear head? Is being stoned better than facing reality and actually dealing with issues in their life?
I'm honestly curious as to what keeps them doing it, the majority of us managed to have fun and excitement in our lives and youth without resorting to drugs, is that their only option.
No I'm not downing anyone or judging anyone that takes drugs I'm just very curious about it all and sad to see it become so accepted..

It's 'sad' that weed is accepted? Well, according to the statistics I'd say it's MUCH MUCH more "sad" that alcohol is accepted. That kills people. Weed doesn't.

Just to toss this out there I think you're way off base with your "dealing with life" perspective. For some? Sure. Just like a myriad of others things people do to "escape" such as exercise, food or sex addictions. They're all hitting the same thing in our brains.

But I know how easy it is to cast aspersions about things we've never done.

The dogma that exists around weed isn't accepted by younger people because they know it's all bullshit. And when they see MILLIONS of "good, everyday folks" addicted to prescription medication they're smart enough to understand the con that's being played.

I respect your opinion and of course over use or abuse of alcohol or smoking is no better, but in this country smoking "weed" is illegal, drinking isn't..like it or not those that do it are breaking the law, there is no justification on that point. I don't expect t anyone using g to understand or advocate my opinion, but alas it is my opinion and one I'm entitled to. I won't apologise for believing it wrong to flout the law just because it suits our own behaviour.

@Primnproper: Well, in the U.S. it actually isn't illegal in many states, right? As a matter of fact, the majority of states have legalized it in some form.
My point is that of all the "legal" drugs, marijuana is the most physically benign. Hell, it's FAR less harmful than people eating crap and getting fat. And in states like the one I live in, marijuana has no more social stigma than alcohol.
I saw you were from the UK and perhaps it's different there. But the facts are the facts. In the U.S. the war against pot wasn't only started for ridiculous reasons but has been an abject failure that had destroyed countless lives.
Maybe some day you'll be inclined to try it. Then you might have a little better understanding of why so many view it differently.
Thanks for the response.

@Ynotisay: it's a drug, end of..not prescribed for the benefit of health reasons so no I have no wish to try it..I don't need to be chilled, music does that for me, I don't need to be high, I can get a rush from other things so I have no need to introduce something to my life that one is illegal and two is something else useless like cigarettes and alcohol to Chuck money at..I have been around plenty of people to plead it's case and no it's still doesn't convince so please just accept we agree to disagree..good evening to you.

@Primnproper: Wow. So you took what I said as a personal affront, huh? That I was "pleading a case?" Uh...OK. I'm done now.
A quick tip though. Don't write that you're "curious" about why things are the way they are when you're really not.

@Ynotisay: you misunderstand, I didn't take it as an affront, curious yes but not here to be convinced otherwise, my views wont change but to hear why people enjoy it so much is what I'm interested in not why it should be ok for them to enjoy it so much..there's a difference..
