Serious question for those open to it. How is alcohol rehab actually helpful?

What will they do besides just take alcohol away for awhile?

It creates an environment with a ton of structure so you can kinda learn some basic living skills you may have lost due to addiction. In addition there's obviously a ton of therapy, and just a healthier environment. Also a lot of addicts to talk to and relate and get some perspective. Also a period of time where are dry, cogent, and figure out next steps. It's hard to solve your problems when you're in them.

I wanna be clear, rehab does not work for everyone, but it does work for some, and it genuinely saved the life of a close friend of mine.
@CountScrofula I'm glad it did. Thank you for your response.

Break the circle of comfort and escapism you have engaged in for years.

You need it.

Many centers offer cognitive therapy for alcoholics and provide medication for withdrawal symptoms
And you possibly get to interact with other people who are going through the same or worse
@Younameit Thank you
