Got fuel oil last week for the house. 2.69 a gallon not to bad

Need it for hot water. At least it was cheaper than winter time.

You always want to fill the tank in late august before winter also ask if you can pre purchase fuel let's say you have a 1000 gallon tank purchase the 1000 gallons in August but not have it delivered till December January

@Jonjdw well that definitely limits storage options unless you have a large entry into your basement where you could add another tank a lot of times heating oil can be stored in a tote which you can buy those for about 50 bucks for a 300 gallon tote.

I used to hate how diesel fuel prices would increase dramatically so I would buy diesel a thousand gallons at a time and I would fill up three 330 gallon totes. At $3 that would be about three grand but that would take me two grand on fuel during the peak which would reach almost five dollars a gallon. Plus I had the convenience of filling up at home and I could use it in either truck or my tractor. Likewise if I could get an extra dollar off back before Kroger put all the limits on the number of gallons then I would save even more money.

@dale74 I don’t know if anybody that has more than two tanks for oil. Other places I’ve lived that had only one. My mother-in-law‘s house has one. And if I were to order a large amount, they could not do it all at one time because it takes time for it to go from one tank to the other tank.
