Imagine being fiancé to a virgin in the 1st century. She gets pregnant without any sex with the future husband.

Could you have believed it was an immaculate conception?
Could anyone in the village believe that story?

It is kind of a common theme in antiquity. I think the same story applied to Shiva and others.

@revenant an espresso?
revenant · F
@SW-User expresso with milk and lots of sugar 🙂
SW-User
@revenant One day you hopefully skip the sugar.

Virgin birth was pretty much the standard for giving birth to a divine being in late antiquity. Immaculate conception was necessary for "Christ" to be seen as divine. Nobody was surprised about that.

@SW-User That's why new Deities are a rare event these days. Not many new Gods for at least 500 years.

@helenS I really do expect the bash terminal replaces that for many. (all pun intended)

@SW-User As a Korn shell user I beg to disagree! 😏
