My last date was more than 30-years ago. Now, I’ve been single for 7-years, and haven’t dated, and I don’t want to, but I still want a relationship. Dating today is like being on a different planet for me. @marsbar

@Carissimi Yes, it can feel like that.

@marsbar Dating is the absolute worst. It took me at least 8 months to find my current girlfriend. And that was because the dating pool is a steaming pile of trash nowdays. Women who are too independent, afraid of commitment, damaged with trauma, or just looking for a casual thing are all over the place.

@Stark I don’t believe that that’s what Carissimi meant. If I’ve been dating a girl for a few weeks it’s time to get exclusive. It just took 8 months to find someone new and worth it.

What I meant was back in the day when I dated, years could go by between one relationship and another. Also, even though I have no experience of dating in the modern world, I have used a dating app, and that was enough to tell me, its not my way of dating, even though I never went on a date, and then my friend has never found a relationship in 6-7 years of dating. She wants one, but her dates are just that, dates. Men can now get women so easy they don’t want the commitment of a relationship, and back to me again ... men my own age are flirting with women in their 20s and 30s. There are virtually no men left for someone my age. @ShadowWolf

@Carissimi The modern world revolves around social media and the internet. It's much easier to meet people. For example, a ton of people meet on instagram. That is where I met my gf. You connect, and then set up a date date in person, and then go from there. Before you know it you're in a relationship. I'm a man that appreciates commitment. We are out there. I am guilty of going for younger women though, it's just my preference. My gf is about 8 years younger than me.

I truly am happy for you, but you know what I said about myself is just reality. You are a different generation. Different gender, and different personality, with different life experiences than mine. The stats speak for themselves. My best friend is 9-years younger than me, and has the body of a 25-year old, and even her dating all these years has been futile. Men want younger women. That’s the reality. At a certain age, women are discarded. That’s the painful truth for many older women. I won’t put myself through that. Life is painful enough as it is. @ShadowWolf

@Carissimi I feel for you, I'm sorry for your struggle. I know it's a reality. In my case (and many other men's case), we want biological children with our partner. Time is a cruel mistress to women in that regard...

I think most men between 50-70 have had children already, and that’s not the priority anymore, but they still want younger women. I guess I’m a younger woman to an 80-year old ... yeah the market is greatly diminished after a certain age. That’s life. @ShadowWolf
