Plastic Grocery Bags Smaller / Thinner

I know others have noticed in many stores today the plastic bags used not only are smaller but they are thinner as well.

Loading up your car the bags or subject to burst apart and not just one.

Are they trying to force people to buy their canvas type bags?

Think I'll shop for a heavy duty burlap bag.

I always double bag

@NativePortlander1970 with these bags are with some items doubling is no good. I double the heavy stuff when I do the bagging myself. The baggers have a tendency not to.
@Charity I always ask to double bag, they usually do.

No I don't ask, I learned years ago l asking them to do something and they'll just throw your stuff in the bag in any way, mix paper products with wet products. You might have a bag of sugar with meat. So I to avoid problems let them do it and if I have to sometimes redo it.

I have actually stopped at some counters and grab me a few bags just to rebag them.
@Charity I had a bagger fired for doing that after I asked them not to mix the meat counter steaks with my deli counter potato salad, they also dropped a 12 pack of soda so hard on the bottom of my cart that a can nearly ruptured, the bottom had bowed out.
