why most food items in the supermarket have shrunken in size

compared to how the size of food items used to be in the 80s? back then food products used to be much bigger in size and portion, now everything has shrunk, and you pay more now as well.

Money. Everything costs more now, so instead of raising the price and pissing off the consumer, they shrink the portion sizes, I guess hoping no one will notice.

As for things being cheaper in the 80's compared to now, that's inflation.
